The circular economy shapes our path into the future.

Our future is circular: Only by promoting the circular economy can we consistently reduce our CO₂ emissions along the value chain and conserve resources over the long term. That is why our key areas of activity are promoting the circular economy and accelerating climate protection.

We are working holistically to reduce our carbon footprint. From the selection of suitable materials for our products to production and recycling – we take all phases of the life cycle into account.

Recycling

What is still often considered waste, we see as a valuable resource. That's why together with external partners from the polymer industry and research we work to develop the recycling solutions of the future.

Material

The majority of our carbon footprint is caused by the raw materials we purchase for the manufacture of our products. This is why we continuously strive to use sustainable alternatives such as recycled materials or bio-based polymers.
At REHAU, we want to increase the proportion of recycled materials in our products to 20% by 2025.
Our RAUSIKKO infiltration box already consists of up to 100% recycled material.

Product design

The potential environmental impact of a product must be considered already in the development phase in order to ensure circularity and the reduction of the CO₂ footprint. That's why we are working on integrating sustainability aspects such as “Design for Recycling” into product development at an early stage.

End-of-life

We take a holistic approach to promoting the circular economy – from increasing the proportion of recycled materials to closing loops at the end of the life cycle.
To ensure that the material remains in the cycle at the end of its useful life, we offer a take-back concept for pipe sections and demolished sewer pipes with the renowned environmental service provider PreZero.

Usage

Whether clean drinking water with RAUTITAN, energy-efficient local heating supply with RAUVITHERM or sustainable cities with RAUSIKKO – we offer solutions for a healthy and sustainable world. All the better because future generations will also benefit: our pipe systems have a service life of 50–100 years.

Distribution & Logistics

By working closely with our customers, partners and suppliers, we continuously optimise our distribution and logistics processes to improvesustainability. In collaboration with our suppliers, we have already converted over 70% of our plastic packaging to a recycled content of at least 30%.

Production

Corporate environmental protection and the systematic reduction of our resource consumption are essential components of our sustainability concept. We are continually working to transition to renewable energy and reduce not only energy and water consumption but also overall waste generation.
In addition, we have committed to Operation Clean Sweep at our plants in order to prevent the loss of plastic granulate into the environment.

Sustainable construction with REHAU.

Sustainable construction takes into account the entire resource consumption of a building – from production and construction to utilisation and demolition – as well as ecological, social and economic aspects. The certification proves this.
We support our customers on the way to successful building certification with information on the product-specific requirements according to DGNB and QNG.

Sustainable chamber modernisation

Many chambers are in need of renovation. The process optimised by REHAU provides relief – and for a long time. During chamber-in-chamber renovation, an AWASCHACHT of the next smaller nominal diameter is installed inside the corroded old chamber. The concrete chamber remains in the ground as permanent formwork. The result: a new, sealed and structurally sound chamber with a service life of up to 100 years!
