SMARTFUSE electrofusion coupler. Jointing technique for temperatures from -40°C to +50°C

The PE electrofusion coupler SMARTFUSE is suitable for temperatures of up to +50 °C and is an inexpensive and chemical resistant way to connect RAUPEX and RAUFRIGO pipes for large dimensions and special application areas. The REHAU tapping sleeve enables later branching for pipes under pressure without interrupting the ongoing production.

System expansion under operating pressure with the SMARTFUSE tapping sleeve

The SMARTFUSE tapping sleeve allows you to add an additional connection to the existing RAUPEX industrial pipework at any position during system operation. This means that you do not need to integrate additional connection options when installing the system. This saves material costs, assembly costs and time. If an additional connection is required during subsequent operation, it can be specifically dimensioned with the SMARTFUSE tapping sleeve for PE pipes and added at the optimum position – even during system operation.

SMARTFUSE electrofusion couplers

For the RAUPEX and RAUFRIGO pipe systems

Using SMARTFUSE electrofusion couplers as well as reducers and flanges, you can connect the following REHAU PE-Xa pipe types: RAUPEX-A, -K, -O, -M, -UV and RAUFRIGO.

SMARTFUSE electrofusion couplers are moulded parts with an integrated resistance wire. Using an electric current, this wire is heated to the required fusion temperature, at which the fusing process is carried out. Each fitting has an integrated recognition resistor which ensures the automatic setting of the welding parameters on the welding apparatus.

Using the display fitting, which projects during welding, each fitting can be visually checked to see if it has been fused successfully. In the case of pipes made from polymer materials, oxidation may occur at the edge of the wall due to environmental influences. For this reason, the outer layer must be removed immediately before the welding process by chipping or peeling it off.

Benefits

  • Operating temperature –40 °C to +50 °C
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Cost effective
  • Total plastic system
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Dimension range 20–355 via SDR11, SDR17

The pressure and temperature operating parameters of the respective application define the permissible operating pressure. You will find a table in the "RAUPEX" or "RAUFRIGO" technical information in the download portal.
